Prokletije National Park hiking!
Overview
Explore a land of rugged beauty, home to jagged peaks, deep canyons and thick forests with this Montenegro hiking holiday.
Discover the country’s best trails and most jaw-dropping scenery, sometimes by hiking to places few people ever visit, taking in impressive mountain ridges, glacial lakes and canyons where pristine blue rivers flow, and perhaps even spotting some interesting wildlife along the way.
Our experienced team of guides will lead you on a real outdoor adventure, with hikes in the Biogradska Gora National park, Komovi Massif and the hidden jewel – Prokletije National Park.
The diverse flora and fauna of Biogradska Gora National park are another amazing treasure of nature. Due to its immense natural wealth and its preservation, Biogradska Gora National park was proclaimed UNESCO Natural Heritage Site.
Prokletije National Park is the most dramatic hiking destination in Montenegro. They’re the southernmost and highest part of the Dinaric Alps. Surreally scenic and remote, this magnificent area may well be one of Europe’s least explored corners. The park encompasses most of the Prokletije Mountains, which form the natural border between Montenegro and Albania. Given the remoteness of this region, you’ll see very few people hiking here. There are two main sections: Grebaje Valley and Ropojana Valley. Both lead you through the low spots of the valley, looking up at high mountains, some of which were still covered in snow in late June. A few glaciers even glimmered in the sunlight, in areas you’d never reach by foot.
One of the most impressive mountains in Montenegro is the massif of Komovi, situated in the eastern part of Montenegro, bordering the Tara River to the west and the Prokletije mountain range to the south. Diverse and unique flora and fauna, numerous clear mountain springs and rivers, many cultural monuments, churches and monasteries, as well as the warmth of the people who live in the Komovi foothills, can`t leave you indifferent. For anyone who likes hiking, Komovi and its peaks are one of the most interesting sites to visit in Montenegro.

The best experiences with Wild Montenegro are the smaller accommodations and the cultural immersion that places you directly in with locals. Often we stayed at family owned B&B or Inns, top-of-the-line itineraries that take you off the beaten away from exhausted tourist trap locations. There is always an adventure literally around the corner.

These guys are interested in showing the true beauty of Montenegro. During our hiking tour, they took wonderful care of each participant and encouraged us to go further. All effort was worth it!

We were thrilled to be on the road again in Europe! After a few Covid challenges along the way in planning, our wonderful guide, Momir, came up with our hiking trip to Prokletije Mountains. Although we are experienced travelers, our itinerary took us to hiking destinations we would never have explored on our own. We want to thank everyone involved for making this one of my best birthdays ever! The inconvenience of a few Covid restrictions was well worth it to be traveling again.

This trip was fantastic. The Wild Montenegro Travel Agency was easy to work with, their communication was great and made the trip stress free, they also worked with us on some changes to the trip. Hotel choices were lovely and we have zero complaints! A very neat way to experience a country.

I was surprised and impressed by the quality of this tour. This was my first hiking tour in Montenegro and I am certainly recommending it to everyone I know. Our guide Momir was well prepared and very professional, he loves his country and showed us much more than its incredible beautiful places.
